Fused Glass Art
Mary Terziani
I
believe that art found me at a time in my life when I needed it. I was
searching for something deeper when I joined a gospel choir and then started painting. Painting led to more creative exploration and
then a craft business. I had seen fused
glass art at craft shows and my curiosity led to research and eventually the
purchase of a kiln in 2011. It seemed a
natural medium for me.
My art is a reflection of the energy and passion that I have for life. I am inspired by nature, color and light. Each design starts with 12 x 12 squares of art glass from which I measure and hand-cut the design elements and then place them on a glass blank. From that point the kiln takes over; although finding the right firing schedule will make or (literally) break a piece. I like to experiment with firing temperatures as to create different textures. The final piece of glass art takes about 24 hours to produce. My goal is to create beautiful, yet functional art that people can afford.
I am a Rochester, NY native, having grown up in the town of Gates, where I still reside, with my son. In addition to my art, I am the manager of a youth development program at Action for a Better Community. I find that the youth I work with challenge me to look at the world with a different view, which in turn inspires my art. I also love to be active; I walk and or run nearly every day; I also enjoy reading and anything that makes me laugh.
